Quincy High School Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund

QHS 57 Committee 001 (600 x 450)

“The class of 1957 was one of the finest we ever had,” says Dr. Robert E. Meyer, retired educator and former assistant superintendent of Quincy Public Schools.

Members of the class of 1957 had successful careers in many fields and have made countless contributions to society. “The scholarship fund is a way of giving something back to the community and school that nurtured us,” says Dr. John Sallstrom, member of the scholarship committee which also includes Ned Broemmel, Janet Gates Conover, Doug Royer and Janet Janssen Scobee.

The scholarship has three goals according to Dr. Sallstrom: “(1) to express appreciation to our parents, teachers and citizens of Quincy who gave us an excellent education; (2) to honor and remember all our classmates for their many contributions to society; (3) to encourage the youth of today and tomorrow to make the most of their lives through education and service to others.”

“The scholarship fund should help the recipients continue their chosen career paths and motivate them to strive for excellence in their lives,” says Dr. Sallstrom. “If it encourages other individuals and classes to do something similar in the future, the whole community will be enriched.”
