Community Foundation hosting Grant Application Programs

Nonprofit organizations from the tri-state area interested in seeking grant funds from the Community Foundation of the Quincy Area in 2010 are encouraged to attend one of three Grant Information Workshops offered in February. Programs are scheduled in Quincy, Ill.; Hannibal, Mo. and Mt. Sterling, Ill.

The sessions will present an introduction to the Community Foundation, information on how to apply for the Community Foundation of the Quincy Areas competitive grant process, and an overview of grant funds available in 2010. Application forms will be distributed and instructions for completion will be reviewed. Grants are made to organizations that have IRS 501(c)(3) classification.
Approximately $36,000 will be distributed in 2010 for the competitive grant program.
Grants generally ranging up to $1,000 will be awarded from the Community Foundations Unrestricted Endowment Funds for requests in arts and culture, community betterment, education, health, and human services. Organizations must be located in one of the following counties: Illinois: Adams, Brown, Hancock, or Pike; Missouri: Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, Knox, Shelby, or Monroe; Iowa: Lee
In addition, grants ranging from $100 to $5,000 will be distributed from funds that serve specific interests and/or geographic areas, as established by each funds founder. Those include the Paul H. & Anne B. Gardner Memorial Fund for nonprofit organizations in Adams County, the Katherine Broemmel Endowment for the Arts, Janes Kids Fund, Palmyra Community Endowment Fund and the James L. & Dorothy W. Rouner Fund to benefit health related causes in Quincy, Ill.
Beginning March 1, applications and instructions will be available for download from the Community Foundations website www.mycommunityfoundation.org. Public libraries in Adams, Brown, Hancock and Pike Counties, Illinois; LaGrange, Palmyra and Canton, Missouri; and Keokuk, Iowa will have application forms available beginning March 1.
The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area is a nonprofit resource that connects people who care with causes that matter in the tri-states. It encompasses 13 area counties and works with donors to build charitable funds that support local causes. It is an endowment builder, a donor advisor, community connector and grant maker.
The Community Foundation serves as a savings account, building permanent funds to address significant needs and opportunities now and in the future in our communities. Since 1999, the Community Foundation has awarded more than 730 grants totaling over $1,200,000 through its various funds providing local support for various programs and projects in the tri-states.
