Community Foundation Elects Officers and Board Members

Two leaders in their communities were elected to the Community Foundation of the Quincy Area's Board of Directors during its annual meeting January 24. Eighteen people will serve the board in 2012.

Today family and friends will honor Samantha Otte's memory by presenting $21,400 to 13 youth-oriented organizations. This marks the twelfth year for the grant awards. The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is hosting the brief program at 8:30 a.m. today.

Scholarship Established For Western High School
CF Release - November 21, 2011

A math scholarship honoring the memories of Marvin J Likes and Thomas Leo Likes has been established with Community Foundation of the Quincy Area. Scholarship applications will be handled by Western High School in Barry, Illinois. The scholarship will be directed to the recipient's college or university the first semester of his or her sophomore year and will be administered through the Community Foundation.

Community Foundation Awards Grants to Tri-State Organizations
CF Release - September 20, 2011

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area awarded grants totaling more than $90,000 to 37 tri-state area not-for-profit organizations today. The grants, awarded from 26 endowment funds held at the Community Foundation, will support a wide range of local, charitable interests. The checks were awarded during a presentation at John Wood Community College's Kinscherff Adult Education Center, 122 N. 5th Street, Quincy, Illinois.

Scholarship and Teacher Award Recipients

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area has awarded eight student scholarships and one teacher recognition award. The awards are funded from permanently endowed funds held with the Community Foundation. The funds provide the annual scholarships at an accredited post-secondary institution for a graduate or student of each respective high school or college. One fund also provides a teacher award. A portion of the earnings is reinvested in the funds for continued growth to provide future scholarships and awards.

The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area is currently accepting online applications for its 2011 competitive grant program in the areas of Arts & Culture, Community Betterment, Education, Health and Human Services. Not-for-profit organizations serving the Community Foundation's 13-county area of Adams, Brown, Hancock, and Pike Counties in Illinois; Clark, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls and Shelby Counties in Missouri; and Lee County in Iowa are eligible to apply.
