Henry and Betty Brooks & Omer and Doris Walton Saukenauk Scout Reservation Fund

Although Dennis Brooks moved away from his native Quincy and made a name for himself as a renowned equine ophthalmologist, he never forgot the place where he was raised. While growing up in Quincy, Brooks was a member of a local Boy Scout Troop, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout along with his two brothers.

Because his participation in Scouts was so instrumental in shaping his life, Dennis established the Henry and Betty Brooks & Omer and Doris Walton Saukenauk Scout Reservation Fund. The Designated Endowment Fund, named in honor of his parents and scoutmaster, benefits the Saukenauk Scout Reservation. The reservation, located near Lima, Illinois, is a place where the scouts of the Mississippi Valley Council can attend camp and participate in a wide range of activities each year.

Because Dennis Brooks chose to start a fund with the Community Foundation, the Saukenauk Scout Reservation will reap the benefits of his generosity for years to come.
