  • Professional Advisor Seminar: Tax-Smart Charitable Giving with Christopher R. Hoyt
    • August 28, 2024
    • 11:30-1:30 p.m. (lunch provided)
    • Quincy Country Club

In this free seminar, Professor Hoyt will present the rules and planning implications for required distributions from retirement accounts in light of the 2022 proposed regulations and the SECURE 2.0 legislation. It will examine the rights that spouses have in each other's retirement assets, including the different rules that can apply in Illinois and in Missouri.

The program will also describe tax-saving strategies for charitable gifts, including “bunching” gifts with donor advised funds and making qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from IRAS.

It will also explain the new Illinois Gives 25% tax credit for donations to endowed funds at Illinois community foundations that will take effect in 2025.
